We typically have several litters of puppies a year, but our females are only bred till they are 6 years of age at which point we retire them from breeding.
We strive to have the puppies ready to go at 7 weeks of age after passing Veterinary examination, and receiving their first series of shots. However, we reserve the right to hold the puppies if we feel it is necessary.
Yes, our puppies come with a limited lifetime health guarantee, all Veterinary records, as well as a copy of their pedigree and AKC registration papers.
The Silver Labrador is a variation of the chocolate Labrador. They are bred to have a gene that dilutes their usual brown color coat. In some circles silver labs are controversial. American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes three Labrador colors - yellow, black and chocolate.
Dilute genes can cause other colors of Labradors including silver which is a dilute color of chocolate, charcoal which is a dilute version of black, champagne and fox red which is a dilute version of yellow.
Without getting too much into the science - Labrador coat color is controlled by a set of genes. The silver color is controlled by the D gene. The D gene acts as a type of switch. One type, "big D", switches coat color to full strength, and the other type, or "little d" switches it to dilute.
In simple terms, genes come in pairs. Big D produces full strength coat color and little d produces a dilute color. DD = chocolate lab or Dd = chocolate lab but dd = silver lab.
Silver labs make great family dogs and have the same wonderful personality and temperament that Labradors are know for.
The picture is Havoc our silver stud dog. Abigail and Havoc are both silver Labradors but even with that we are not guaranteed to have silver lab puppies. Rest assured our silver Labrador puppies are pure bred and come with a pedigree and registration papers through AKC. If interested in a silver Labrador puppy please contact us to be added to the waiting list.
Champagne Labradors are definitely a color you have to see in person to appreciate. Champagne Labs are Yellow Labs with a dilute silver gene. They catch a lot of attention because of the shimmer to their coat. They are considered to be unusual, extremely beautiful and not very common. The American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes the champagne color as a shade of yellow and are therefore registered as a Yellow Labrador.
Once again the color is a "gene thing". When a champagne factored is bred with another Labrador who also carries the dilute gene (dd), puppies can be produced in the litter that are either carriers of the dilute gene, are not carriers of the dilute gene or who are called a dilute color - that is they carry the gene and it is their coat color.
Unlike silver Labradors the E gene is where the genetic information comes from that creates a yellow coat. The champagne Labrador needs to have bbee genes to produce their beautiful coat color.
This picture is of our breeding female Taja who is a champagne Labrador. Rest assured our champagne puppies are pure bred and come with a pedigree and registration papers through AKC. If interested in one of our champagne puppies please contact us to be added to the waiting list.
